Alright. So, yesterday I was in the city, at a park for a celebration with my friend. There was this one guy, the whole time who just followed us around, talked to us. And we talked to him.
You know, we made conversation, because I was watching my two younger siblings and he was watching his younger cousin, all three of us were stuck at the playground with dozens upon dozens of six yearolds.
Now, we all have that friend, that one friend who is so fourth grade boy crazy like, and quick to assume that think every guy they meet is into you. Or that every guy you meet is into her. Yeah, this is that friend.
She insisted that this boy was flirting with me, and, even in the few hours we were there I started to think that maybe he was. I mean, i'm attractive.
There's that time when you think a boy might be flexing, when you know he's flexing, and that time came. He was flirting. You know, he asked for my number, asked me to Kik him, repeatedly stole my hat from right under my nose. And I wont say he wasn't cute, but what I will say, is I tried my hardest to act as if I didn't think he was cute. As if I wasn't flattered that he was talking to me like this.
And that's what I wanted to talk about today.
Why us girls try to act insulted, or disgusted, or too cool to be flirted with when a man or a boy is hitting on us.
It's like, for me, atleast, like I don't wanted him to think that I didn't want to be flirted with, but I did. I don't know, maybe it's the "play hard to get thing" that I always complain about, telling all my friends how stupid it is.
Maybe it's just implanted in our minds, maybe it's a natural thing that all girls just can't help but do.
Now. I will say this. There is a thin line between being cocky and being arrogant. Flirtatious touching and touching that falls somewhere around sexual abuse, and we all know those guys. Those guys who call out "hey Shawty" and "come hear baby" from the protection of their cars, and the guys who think they can touch you wherever the eff they want to touch you. That's not ok. At all. It's disrespectful and they deserve to be treated in just as disrespectful of a way.
But!
Then, there are those guys who are just, flirting. He's not being nasty, or disrespectful, he's just complementing you. Talking to you. And even if you don't feel like talking with them, they don't deserve to get the cold shoulder. They don't deserve the get lost attitude. And this is coming from a chick who definitely puts of a get lost attitude every once in a while.

Older and newer generations
Today i'm going to talk about something that's been bothering me a lot lately. This subject likes to creep up on you at the most unlikely, unrelated times, and it's getting on my nerves.
Communication, between the old generations, and the now generations.
I'm not one for talking, that's why I write everything down, but when I do talk, I get deep. And I've found that older people are...how do I put it? Surprised, when they see that I have something to say. Of course I don't speak out of line or anything, but when i'm asked, I have no problem with answering them.
A lot of younger people do.
I feel like the younger generations don't talk enough with the older people in their lives. We are the future, but they were the future once too, and they deserve to know what will happen when they're gone forever.
I'm not only blaming us kids though, I also feel that the adults don't ask enough questions. They don't believe that there are teenagers out there who care more about their futures than hooking up and doing drugs. And they have that stereotyped way of thinking towards us. They think we're all delinquents.
Of course there are always exceptions, I know some amazing older people, who, frankly, sometimes i'd rather talk with than the people I know who are my age. And the people I hang out with, aren't apart of that stereotypical teenager rebellion thing.
When I was younger, I was taught to respect my elders. I learned how to listen too, because most of the family members I'm close to are much, much older than me. Okay, so, yeah, respect you elders. That's good. We were all taught that, at least we were if we have good parents. I'v always believed that this is something that should be kept for as long as possible, we should all respect those who have gone through this mess of a world and managed to stay sane for so much longer than we have.
But!
And but! I repeat.
Yes, elders deserve to be respected, but their views, the way they see the world and the things they think and say are not always correct. Growing old does not mean that you gain intelligence, it means you grow wisdom. It means that you've made more mistakes than those who are younger than you, because you've had more time to make them. It does not, however, always mean that you've learned from your mistakes.
For instance.
What would the world be like if we followed the way they world used to be centuries, or even just decades ago?
There'd still be slavery, discrimination against blacks, women, gays, Jews, Atheists and pretty much anyone who is different.
We would never want to go back that would we? No! And this is the perfect example as to why old fashioned ways of thinking are NOT always the best ways of thinking.
Keeping that in mind, still, older people aren't stupid. There are some things that should be universal, and timeless.
Love.
Peace.
Joy.
Self respect.
Respect for others.
Acceptance.
Sympathy.
Care.
Willingness to help.
Common sense.
Ability to feel emotion.
Things like this. But, some things can change. Some things can get better. And what I think everyone needs to understand, all races and ages and Nationalities, you don't always lose something when things evolve.
No two people believe in the exact same thing. Someone, somewhere, is going to make sure that that way of thinking stays in the world until the end. Things get better, they don't turn into their opposites. That's when you know there's a bigger problem than change involved.
I've found, when I have enough courage to talk with someone who's older than me about this that they always seem to give off the same vibe. That they are scared for the future. That they are scared that us, the now generation will somehow blowjob and snort all the way to extinction. Okay. That's extreme.
But, a less intense, version of that.
I mean, look at the world. Look at what it is, i'm more than three times younger than them, and i'm scared for the world. War, how we treat each other, ourselves, and even how we treat the Earth. Pollution, animals going extinct every day, cutting down entire rain forests. The world is far from perfect. And people have reasons to worry, it's just, there are kids like me who are sitting at a laptop, or have a tablet held between their hands at this very moment, how are talking about these sorts of subjects. Using something that's seen as negative to a lot of people, the Internet, to spread a good message. And, there are kids who are really out there, making a difference by using action, and words.
Us, as a people, especially us younger ones, need to understand the problems our world has. Because there are a lot. I see young people every day doing extraordinary things, but I guess there's not enough for us, because i'm writing this post about how there's miscommunication between generations.
Us younger people who have brains, and older people too, we need to stop being afraid to talk to older and younger people, tell them our ideas.
Show them that the future isn't something we should have to be worried about.

Suicide
Hello everyone, I've chosen a slightly more depressing subject to talk about today. But, sometimes we have to just suck it up, and tell the Internet our deepest, darkest feelings in the form of a blog post.
I know what you're thinking, and no, I am not depressed, I have not attempted suicide.
But, just like everyone else I have thought about suicide.
It's even started to get more attention from the media, with the award winning book and movie 'All the Bright Places" and some celebrities coming out with personal stories about OCD, suicide attempts and depression.
Now, some could say that any thoughts of suicide, or depressing feelings are unhealthy, and I guess that's true in some kind of way, but at some point in time we've all thought about it. So, if that's the case, we're all suicidal.
Whether it was a little, 'I wonder' when we were mad at the world, or, a real problem, were you needed to seek real medical attention, or you've simply pondered the subject.
This subject came to me the other day, when I was driving somewhere with my family and I saw a girl digging through a garbage bag on the side of the road. This isn't aaalll that strange where I'm from, but that combined with some things I'd heard earlier stamped the idea in my mind.
At first, I though about life, what it means, all that philosophical BS. But then it took a turn for the dark, 'people take their lives every day' I thought. The idea struck me with real, real hard.
It had never dawned on me soooo clearly, that there are some people, who don't only have to deal with other human beings thinking they're not good enough, but who also don't think they're good enough.
The bottom line is everyone is good enough to live. But I'm not going to be one of those fucking annoying people on the Internet who like to act like they understand problems they don't know anything about.
Or tell anyone to just "suck it up" because that's not how it works. I know that, I may not know anything else, but I know that.
I've talked about people who can't help feeling suicidal thoughts, now I'm going to talk about people who do have enough control to avoid it. Only the person knows whether they're suicidal or not.
So it's not like anyone can just go up to anyone and be like, 'hey. stop playin'.
We've all thought about running away, but how many of us have ever done it? When I was six years old, I got mad at my parents and when they weren't looking I stuck out the front door. I got to the corner. Then the guilt took over me and I ran back to my house, telling on myself to my parents.
Don't laugh, that was far for me.
I'm not trying to make light of a dark situation, or make fun of anyone, or compare something as rash as suicide to running away a block.
But what I'm saying is, suicide is not something to play with. Just like it was never funny when we were kids and we'd say to over parents "I'm going to pack my bags, and when you're sleeping I'm running away" and then they'd stay up all night while we were asleep, us not realizing that they took the threat seriously.
Some people really want to commit suicide. No joke. And I feel like faking, and there are a lot of people who do do this, is just retarded and vain.
It's the same way when people go on, and on about being obsessed with something, and people who really do have OCD are like, you don't know the half of it sister/brother.
Also, people with hearts and souls, take threats like this serious. You can tell that someones not really obsessed with song they heard on the radio. But it's a little harder to tell if someone is contemplating suicide.
Last thing I want to talk about today, are the people who commit unintentional suicide. Check out this idiot.
There was a story a little while ago about a man who set off fireworks on his head...
Yes. His head.
Now obviously, this was a bad decision. But apparently he thought he was Jesus or something.
We all do stupid things, sometimes we take chances. But you've reached a new level when that chance could possible or will without doubt inflict death upon yourself. Because, in a case like the one I've mentioned, see, I don't call that an unintentional suicide, I call that suicide, because what the fuck did you think was gonna happen?
Of, course, they're are also mistakes. And accidents with guns, and other weapons. And it's just terrible when those things happen.
Okay, hope you enjoyed, leave a comment, talk to me.

Art
Hello. Hope every one's doing well and all.
I've decided to talk about something rather vague today. About something incredibly close to my heart, and I'm sure all of yours as well.
Something revolutionary, beautiful, amazing, you get the point.
Today, I'm going to talk about art. I'm going to talk about the thing, the power that has shaped our world from the very, very beginning until now. And which, hopefully, will continue to be so influential for generations to come.
As human beings, we've always needed entertainment, excitement. Whether that came in the form of stories taught and shared from second daughter to second daughter, or something like that, or Kim Kardashians ass.
Slaves singing songs of freedom and mercy, or children doodling ideas in their sketch books that might be inspiration for them to make that doodle real one day.
We've always been smart enough, to have fun, and beauty, even when the only things we could use to create this beauty were our brains, our hearts and our hands.
It's amazing, and it's priceless, because, there was a time believe it or not, where art wasn't paid for so highly.
Where songs were just sung, not fought over by dozens of artists at a time, and paintings were painted to preserve histories, and stories. Not to gain profit.
And believe me, I intend to make money off of my writing, my poetry, my music, and my paintings and drawings. But it's just weird, and kind of intriguing to think about a time, on this Earth where it wasn't like that at all.
Where people shared their talents without really expecting praise, or money, or to be put up higher than every one else.
We could all learn from our ancestors.
I mean, sure, most of them were crazy, blood thirsty, war loving ass holes, but they got a few things right.
Art changed through the years, and we started putting more into ideas.
Poetry, theater. music, pottery, paintings, and so, so much more. Everywhere.
It blended into different cultures, and spread to different countries. Like language did, because numbers and letters were nothing but abstract ideas in the mind of a cave man at first.
Everything was.
Today things are even more different, obviously. Like everything else we still have now, art grew imencly, into this major part of our daily lives. Music, radios, phones, television. And places to share all of it, social media, and cars, and planes, and trains, that get us there so we can see it with our own eyes.
I don't know if it's better, but now, art is just valued differently. The way everything is valued, with money.
W e live in a world now, where money, even more than all that time ago, often defines what is and what is not valuable. We all know how much money art, no matter the type brings in to the people in charge. It's still important, and it always will be.

Where to get Inspiration
I'm still new to this, and it took a while for me to sit down today but I've finally decided on a topic.
That being, Inspiration.
It's ironic because that's exactly what I've been missing lately.
Inspiration for whatever you do. Whatever you want to do. Sometimes you just have to sit down, or stand up, or, whatever. But you have to start.
Starting, sometimes that's the hardest part. To many times I've found myself thinking, well 'what if it doesn't come out right?' or, 'what if it's not good enough?' And I don't want to sound sappy, but, why does it matter?
When it comes to inspiration, there are so many places you can look to find what you need in order to set off that little light bulb above your head. Yep, the internet.
Check out some social media sites, and look hard core. The big sites, Twitter, Facebook, ect. they don't always have the best stuff just because they're the biggest.
Minor blogs, and websites belong to some of the most creative people I've ever come across.
But the internet isn't the only place you should check out,
simply look at the world around you.
Go outside. And stop sitting at your desk writing ideas down on sticky notes.
Take in some fresh air kid, sometimes that's all it takes.
If you need some ideas, don't be afraid to ask someone. Your mother, your boy friend, you friend friend, other people have a way of throwing us ideas that we might be shying away from a bit. And they can help you ease up to them. Because come on, we all have things we're scared of, but, fortunately, or, unfortunately, doing something we really don't want to do can create something beautiful and new.
So, i'm not going to give you anywhere to check out, because I believe you can do it yourself. Stop being lazy. That's what's kept you from figuring it out all this time man. Now go outside. Walk around your neighbor hood, or hop on that search engine and go searchin' for those inspirational people. I'll do another post where I give you links to some places, but for now, go have fun.

The Fourth of July
Okay, I thought a lot about this, and I've decided that I'm going to talk about the fourth of July today. Yes, I'm well aware that it is the 13, but, better late that never.
before I start on the actual subject, I'd like to talk about why I think it's so important.
Ever since I was really, really young I've been taught about History, my father's an African and World History professor yada yada yada. All that boring stuff.
So my opinion has always been different, that's what happens when you're taught by your parents and more or less left to fend for your self in the education field instead of going to a school.
So I was taught all these things which I will point out in a few, and I started to realize with time, that, yes, the fireworks are pretty and the grill is bomb, but, Independence Day was never really quite as Independent as people back then, and today think.
So the Congress met in Philly, in 1776, July 1st. But Independence was declared the day after, July 2nd, 1776, not, on July 4 as many believe. But, something big did happen on the fourth; on July 4th, 1776, Congress approved. If Congress hadn't approved, we wouldn't have gained Independence, not at that moment in time at least, and that is why July,4th is celebrated as Independence day and not July, 2nd.
However, that wasn't the end of the battle. You might have noticed that I haven't mentioned the Declaration, that's because it hasn't been signed yet.
The Declaration wasn't signed until August of 1776, almost an entire month later.
Now, whether you didn't know all of this, and your rubbing your chin and nodding at your phone, or, your all like, bitch, I knew that, this next part is what I want you to hear.
So, in the war and before the war, there were African slaves in America. Obviously. And the slaves were kind of torn. Britain owned America, they were the bosses, which meant that they had the right to permit slaves to chose to fight with the enemy: them. They were asked to help, but they weren't forced quite as much which won over a lot of them.
But here's what I want to point out.
Yes, technically, Europeans were the ones who enslaved them, and America was still connected to Great Britain, but through a slaves eyes it was different. America was trying to gain independence, but if they won, black slaves would still be slaves. Nothing would change for them so why help?
Britain was offering them freedom. They were bribing them and a whole lot of slaves were more than happy to except their bribe.
I mean, I'd do the same thing.
There were also slaves who fought with America. Some of them had a mind set of, 'oh, I'm American too' and some of them had other reasons I'm not quite sure of. But there were slaves on both sides.
Like I said before, the slaves who fought with Britain knew that they would still be slaves if America won, and as we all know, America did win, and as so many of them feared, they were still slaves.
Independence Day isn't really when America gained entire Independence.
America, even when we became Thirteen colonies and gained Independence from Britain, after all the struggle and war and death, still couldn't understand what it felt like for those slaves to be property.
They now felt and breathed freedom, but, couldn't understand how black slaves could also yearn for it.
Or just didn't understand that they were human beings who also deserved freedom whether their cotton fields needed picking or not.
So it gets me thinking, would the world have come out better if the war went the other way? We're all proud of our countries, and we should be, every place in the world has done extraordinary things for the greater good. But we can't just justify something because our ancestors were from here.
Would they really have set us free? Or were they simply using us?
Britain was desperate. So I'm not sure but I've never believed that everyone who promised a slave freedom in that war was being honest. There were good people, it's just there were a lot of bad ones too. After all, if Britain had won, they'd want to keep America calm and freeing their slaves definitely would not have helped with that.
So in whole, for Blacks, Independence Day really isn't and never was
Independence day. I'd like Emancipation Day, how 'bout that?
